Below is my ranking of 21 Pixar films that have been released by August 9, 2019.
Toy Story 3
Now Woody, he’s been my pal for as long as I can remember. He’s brave, like a cowboy should be. And kind, and smart. But the thing that makes Woody special, is he’ll never give up on you… ever. He’ll be there for you, no matter what.
Bob: Weren’t you in the news? Some show in, Prayge… Prague?
Edna: Milan, darling. Milan. Supermodels. Heh! Nothing super about them… spoiled, stupid little stick figures with poofy lips who think only about themselves. Feh! I used to design for gods!
I am a nice shark, not a mindless eating machine. If I am to change this image, I must first change myself. Fish are friends, not food.
In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little, yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations. The new needs friends.
This is called farming! You kids are gonna grow all kinds of plants! Vegetable plants, pizza plants.
Toy Story 2
Buzz Lightyear: I’ll never give in. You killed my father!
Emperor Zurg: No, Buzz. I am your father!
Buzz Lightyear: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Carl Fredricksen: Hey, let’s play a game. It’s called “See Who Can Be Quiet the Longest.”
Russell: Cool! My mom loves that game!
Woody: All right, that’s enough! Look, we’re all very impressed with Andy’s new toy.
Woody: T-O-Y, Toy!
Buzz: Excuse me, I think the word you’re searching for is “Space Ranger.”
Woody: The word I’m searching for I can’t say because there’s preschool toys present.
[as Bob helps Dash with his math]
Dash: That’s… not the way you’re supposed to do it, Dad. They want us to do it like this…
Bob: I don’t know that way, why would they change math? Math is math, math is math!
Mike: Can I borrow your odorant?
Sulley: Yeah, I got, uh, Smelly Garbage or Old Dumpster.
Mike: You got, uh, Low Tide?
Mike: How about Wet Dog?
Sulley: Yep. Stink it up.
Toy Story 4
Being there for a child is the most noble thing a toy can do.
The Good Dinosaur
You have to get through your fear to see the beauty on the other side.
Fear: Maybe it was a bear?
Disgust: There are no bears in San Francisco.
Anger: I saw a really hairy guy, he looked like a bear.
Don: I don’t want you to think of me as your new dad. After all, we’re fraternity brothers first.
Squishy: This is so weird.
Don: Just think of me as your big brother that’s marrying your mother. Wait, hold on, we’re brothers who share the same mom slash wife.
Andrew Stanton, Angus MacLane
For a guy with three hearts, you are not very nice.
Never forget how much your family cares for you.
A Bug’s Life
Hey, bartender! Bloody Mary, O-positive.
Mark Andrews, Brenda Chapman
Some say our destiny is tied to the land, as much a part of us as we are of it. Others say fate is woven together like a cloth, so that one’s destiny intertwines with many others. It’s the one thing we search for, or fight to change. Some never find it. But there are some who are led.
John Lasseter, Joe Ranft
[after having watched three Pixar films and noticing that each one contains John Ratzenberger]
Hey… they’re just using the same actor over and over. What kind of cut-rate production is this?!
You’ll never be the racer you once were. You can’t turn back the clock, kid. But you can wind it up again.
Whoever finds a friend, finds a treasure.
